They accumulate in soil, oceans, surface and ground waters, from where they get into drinking water and air. Due to their presence in all elements of the environment, i.e. in water, soil, air and food, they easily enter living organisms through the alimentary route by eating food contaminated with them, but also through the respiratory tract and the skin. Moreover, the penetration of toxic components into organisms constituting the link in the food chain poses a threat to humans.

The results of the conducted research indicate that the above-mentioned toxic compounds have been detected in tap water, bottled water and food.

If that was not enough, these compounds degrade very slowly, microorganisms have great problems with their decomposition and their concentration in the environment is constantly increasing.
